The Wesleyan Chapel was built in 1871 during the Gulgong gold rush. This building was later sold on to the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows (M.U.I.O.O.F) in 1878 to be used at their meeting lodge as they had been meeting in Seff’s Hotel, Mayne Street (then Queen Street), since opening in 1872. THE OLD WESLEYAN CHAPEL BEFORE AND AFTER
We are certainly very fortunate to have such fantastic historical photographs of our delightful wooden chapel taken in 1872 as part of the Holtermann Collection of photos, thanks to the Mitchell State Library ,NSW. These photos will also be on view in the soon to be opened Gulgong Holtermann Museum www.holtermannmuseum.com.au
